About

My entire life art has been my passion and my “go to” when all else is stagnant. I have been drawing since I was 18 months old. The very first drawing that I did was of a recognizable stegosaurus in crayon on the laundry room wall in my childhood home. The rest is history.

As I grew older, like most young boys, I grew fond of comic books and the wonderful art of so many talented artists. I began to draw the comics and create my own heroes. It was in the early 90’s when I discovered an artist by the name of Todd McFarlane. McFarlane’s art struck me unlike any other artist had before. His characters had a very fluid dynamic while bending the rules of reality but keeping the characters very believable. I was hooked and I wanted to be better.

I had always experimented with all types of mediums. If I could think of it I could create it using anything and everything I could put my hands on. I had developed a knack for creating interesting and complicated art works by the time I was a teenager. It was in my early 20’s when I began to attend Gordon College (now Gordon State) and took art classes with Marlin Adams that I really pushed myself to the next level.

I have always had an affinity for classical masterpieces and some previous study as well but it was Mr. Adam’s that rekindled the fire for my appreciation of the beauty of realism. During my time at Gordon I was able to create art that I had previously not attempted such as, portrait sculpture, oil painting, pointillism, and more. I discovered that I was even better than I had thought I was. Achieving levels of realism that impressed myself. This newfound confidence ignited my passion into an ever expanding blaze and to this day I cannot push myself far enough.

In my first official art competition at the Georgia National Fair I was awarded a first place ribbon for a landscape oil painting. I was surprised and completely blown away by this. The competition was fierce, in my eyes, and I could not believe that something I had done for a challenge and for fun had won a competition such as this. Sadly, I have yet to enter another art competition to this day.

My love for art has always been a driving force for me. I would absolutely love to be able to sustain myself through my passion, however life has had so many other plans for me. Time is a valuable asset that has dwindled from me in my adult life. My passion for the arts remains as strong, if not stronger, than ever. I am very fortunate to be able to work at an art studio in my home town spreading that love to others on a weekly basis. It is always fun for me to be at the helm of a painting session and see and hear what others feel and think about painting. My favorite part is getting to see what the painters do that individualize each of their works. I hope that by publishing this blog site that I can possibly reach out  to others and  in turn share my art with the world.

I am always up for taking on commissions of any kind. I actually enjoy the pressure of working on deadlines. If you have any projects that you need an artist to fulfill please do not hesitate to inquire. I will also be including other arts and crafts and works of furniture that I do periodically as well. Please enjoy and thank you for taking the time to visit my page!
